Our Mission

To improve visual function and quality of life for the more than 400 million people globally who live with dry AMD and to help establish MacuMira as the standard of care in Canada and around the world.

The History of Microcurrent

Microcurrent therapy originated in the mid-20th century and emerged as a groundbreaking approach in medical treatment thanks to its ability to mimic the body’s naturally occurring electrical impulses.

These gentle currents play a crucial role in key cellular healing processes. Early research by Assimacopoulos (1968) and Wolcott et al. (1969) demonstrated that microcurrent could support faster tissue repair and regeneration by improving intercellular communication and increasing ATP production—ATP being the fuel cells use for energy.

MacuMira takes this concept further. Using a patented waveform and precisely engineered delivery system, our device targets the retina through the closed eyelids, delivering therapy that supports healthy retinal activity and measurable improvements in visual performance for people with dry AMD.

MacuMira uses a unique, patented waveform controlled by sophisticated coding to deliver safe, effective retinal rejuvenation that can improve vision in patients living with dry AMD.
